Alcohol Campaign - Step 2 & Final Blog of the Year

Today me and my team-mate for the Convergence Media Teamwork task, began on a Prezi highlighting our progress of the task so far. The Prezi showed a couple of the elements of the campaign such as a sign advertising in a sarcastic manner for effectiveness along with facts we have found about binge drinking. The prezi is unfinished at the moment but once i have submitted my report for Sarah's module, all of my focus will be put into this task. We plan on filming a short video clip next Thursday with the help of a few people off the course who will act in our film in order to spread awareness of binge drinking so hopefully all goes well and we get enough people to feature in the production. This is also my last blog entry of the year so let me just say this year has been a very challenging yet fun experience for me. With a fresh start last September in our new building i knew things were looking good and i'm really pleased with the way my grades have been looking so let's try and keep that up for the last couple of assignments!
See you in September for my final year and last ever blog!

Applied Media Research Report

I've managed to really get cracking on with my report the last couple weeks and i'm almost half way through. Initially the idea of having to write 3000 words overwhelmed me a little as i thought i wouldnt have enough content to write about. Luckily after a meeting with Sarah, i managed to get my head around what exactly it was i was going to discuss and how to structure my report. So far i have discussed why it is so difficult to make money within the media industry and how companies such as Spotify have found successful ways of making money in a world where downloading music for a price is extremely rare.
The discussion part of my essay looks at Mike Walsh, a futurist and keynote speaker and his concept of 'factory media' and consumer behaviour which have had a damaging effect on the traditional ways of selling media but positive effect on consumers, as they are paying close to nothing for media content such as music, Apps and even television.
I've got another 1000 words to go but it shouldn't take me too long as i know what i need to discuss! Wish me luck!
