This afternoon my group and I met up for a production meeting to discuss our individual progress so far in terms of the music promotional video we will be creating for Production Project. As I stated in my previous blog post, me and Ceri went to Formby on Friday evening to watch the band perform live. My next step now, is to complete the shot list for the acoustic performance the band will be performing in a few weeks time, however I aim to get this completed way before then as we have a meeting with our supervisor next week therefore I want to be fully prepared and most importantly, that will be another thing to tick off the list of things to do for the assignment.
I discussed with my group what lighting we think will look the most effective for an Indie Rock band such as Rangoon Sons and we all came to the conclusion that orange and yellows will probably work best due to the relaxed and cool effect these colours bring to Indie Rock bands. We have told the band specifically to avoid wearing overly bright colours, checkered shirts, polka dots, pin striped or any other material/design that will intefere with the quality of the shot. Therefore it was advised that they wear earth tone colours or solid colours and avoid wearing material that is too thick or having too many layers on due to the intensity of heat from the lighting in the studio. From previous meetings with the band I have a relatively good idea of what their style consists of which is mainly whites, dark blues and browns so I'm pretty sure we won't have many/any problems when it comes to costume intefering with the lighting.
I'll keep you posted on how I progress with my shot list/storyboard for the acoustic performance.
